Double-digit Recovery of the Ukrainian Retail After the Financial Crisis
Finds PMR Corporate
Nevertheless, Ukrainian retail is a comparatively young market. For
a long time, Ukraine has kept aloof the modern international retail
sector. The market has been developed mostly by domestic companies.
(…) Ukraine is not an easy market for new players. Domestic companies
are present in every retail sector, they are experienced in dealing
with local administration and are aware of Ukrainian consumers’ needs.
On the other hand, the position of foreign retailers planning to enter
Ukraine is not weak. Among foreign companies, grocery concerns have

GROHE CEO David
J. Haines Interview for Vedomosti newspaper
What were the consequences of the economic downturn for GROHE?
As a world market leader in our industry, GROHE has come through

“why” is the question. The answer is that we spent the years
before the crisis
fixing the company. (...) And what was happening in Russia?
In Russia we had a very good 2008. 2009 was the year of decline
- double digit decline in fact, but in 2010 we are growing
by around
20%. So
Russia had a typical path: growth, crisis, and back to growth
again – but growth for GROHE, not market growth. The market
is still
declining in Russia. We are gaining market share. >> read
